![]() I like the new cooking pot for the most part. The home building system is neat, the new skill trees, and social connections screens are lovely. In Sandrock I'm not sure I want to play a new character. I actually want to try to do a no kill run (no non story kill) to see if I can do it all without farming Hazardous ruins and killing Animals directly. I think I did three Characters to South Block and 2 to the Harbour. I literally played Portia through the Early Access period. Yet in Sandrock I constantly feel rushed while not enjoying the story because I miss the Quaintness of Portia. I also don't have time to expand my shop much because that urgency to every quest makes me feel as though I can't afford the time to make the second Grinder to have to make extra mats, or to expand the property to put in a hutch to raise bunnies because I have no time to actually care for them. The one that gives the most still needs 12 to fully refill the bar which is close to 2000 gols. but I get 15 stamina at best from most food. Adding to this there aren't very many ways to regain that stamina. I run out of bronze faster than I can mine for the mats. I realize I'm like 12 levels below a boxing jack but it takes almost all my Stamina to fight just one. This is compounded by the first two Abandoned Ruins being so far apart and the Stamina system being SUPER unbalanced. Everything feels like it needs to be done now. Which when combined with multiple Commissions a 7 day work week and a 7am start time to race to get the best commissions and you are left feeling rushed in everything. Which puts a horror movie feel to the game in the first 10 hours rather than a quaint little game that Portia felt like for most of the game.Īdd to this the fact most of the game is just one crisis after another, it creates a sense of urgency to EVERYTHING you do. The story thus far doesn't change it, it make them feel SUPER sinister. plus at least one of Rocky's People displays a church pendent around their neck. A large percentage of the town actually seems to be active members of the Church, To "Pastors" Burgess, Pen, Dan-bi. so the Head of the Church just took over, stuck her people in charge of city departments, brought in their own muscle, and are enforcing rules that should be the job of the Civil Corps. You are stuck with a Story where rather than building the town and bringing people back you are left with a town that is Missing it's Mayor. More than that many of the characters feel down right sinister. Though Heidi and Rocky can fit in there too. Sandrock is just Justice, Mi-an, Elsie, Owen, Hugo, and Vivi are the only ones that don't seem off. Ginger, Gust, Albert, Martha, Arlo, Alice, Sam, Remington, Django, Mei, Issac, the Hulu Brothers etc. Sandrock has Qi and Portia as Petra and Merlin giving nuance to the quirky smart person. ![]() The whole town is well rounded and lovely. After that you have Emily, Sophie, McD, Lucy, Petra, Carol and Mars, etc. In Portia you have the scheming Mayor, Higgins, a "valley girl waitress, and a fisherman who looks like he shouldn't be near the school and, then brothers that all look a like. I don't know what they are they are just weird. Catori a Deadbeat parent, Rian and Dan-bi who seem to be. Arvio who is always happy to scam his way through. Qi who is awkward and is a negative stereotype. In Sandrock you have Yan who is slimey, you have Cooper who is a stereotype, Pen who is out of place and creepy, Miguel who is down right Sinister, Fang who is wtf, Burgess that feels like a Authoritarian snitch. ![]() Minus Higgins the whole town is full of generally nice people (With 1.5 notable exceptions) The people are friendly and are primarily likeable. Portia is a beautiful quaint little down. There seems to be three major issues, Pacing, Character Development, and Story.įirst Character Development. This is maybe late to the game but what the heck is with the storytelling in Sandrock?
